This Privacy Policy explains how KAE Travels, LLC, a California limited liability company doing business as Meet Travel Friends ("Meet Travel Friends," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and shares information when you use meettravelfriends.com and related services (the "Platform").

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us:

  • Account details: name, email address, and password, or sign-in through Google
  • Profile details: photos, location, travel interests, and anything else you choose to add
  • Optional profile details, such as gender identity, family status, and groups you identify with. You choose whether these are shown on your profile.
  • Content: events you post, communities you join, comments, and messages
  • Messages you send to our support team

Payment information: When you pay host fees, Stripe collects your card details. We do not receive or store your full card number. We receive limited details, such as the last four digits of your card, the amount, and whether the payment succeeded.

Information collected automatically: Your device and browser type, IP address, pages you visit, and the dates and times of your visits.

2. How We Use Information

  • Run the Platform and your account
  • Show your profile and events to other members based on your visibility settings
  • Help you find travel friends, communities, and events
  • Process host fees and keep payment records
  • Review reported content, enforce our Terms of Service, and prevent fraud and abuse
  • Send account, safety, and service messages
  • Understand how the Platform is used and improve it

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.

3. How Information Is Shared

  • With other members: Your profile, events, and comments are visible based on your visibility settings. Events you post may be visible to the public. Messages are visible to the members you send them to.
  • With service providers: Companies that help us run the Platform, including hosting and database, sign-in, payment processing (Stripe), and email. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
  • For legal and safety reasons: When required by law, or when needed to protect the safety and rights of our members or others.
  • In a business transfer: If our business is sold, merged, or reorganized, your information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.

4. Your Choices and Rights

  • Edit your profile and visibility settings at any time.
  • Delete your account from your account settings. We delete your profile and content within 30 days, except information we must keep for legal, tax, payment, or fraud-prevention reasons.
  • Questions about your information? Email support@meettravelfriends.com.
  • Unsubscribe from non-essential emails using the link in any email. Account and safety messages continue while you have an account.

We will not treat you differently for making a privacy request. California residents may have additional rights under California law, and can make any request by emailing us.

5. How Long We Keep Information

We keep your information, including your messages, while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, content, and the messages you sent within 30 days. Messages other members sent to you stay in their accounts.

We keep reports and safety records for up to 4 years after they're resolved, and payment records for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes. If you're removed from Meet Travel Friends for breaking our rules, we keep a scrambled version of your email address so the account can't be re-created. We may keep information longer when it's needed for an ongoing investigation or legal matter.

6. Security

We use encrypted connections, secure sign-in, and access controls to protect your information. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

7. Cookies and Do Not Track

We use only essential cookies to keep you signed in and the Platform working. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy first.

Some browsers send "Do Not Track" signals. Because there is no common standard for them, we do not currently respond to these signals.

8. Children

The Platform is only for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We will post any changes on this page and update the date above. For material changes, we will email you before they take effect.
